Analysts said that the move by Musk to nuke the political system by threatening to sink the deal unless Republicans deny Trump the presidency through a primary challenge was a taste of the kind of role that Musk might play to hold Congress to ransom once Trump is in the White House. Behind the scene though Trump did not get his own demand for Republicans to raise the debt ceiling the president-elect indicated, Musk’s performance demonstrated that he could be a powerful instigator of activity once in office and at the helm of aptly named ‘Department of Government Efficiency’.
